Institute Works Department
The Institute Works Department of SPA Bhopal was established in august, 2009 for carrying out development activities for the proposed as well as present campus of SPA Bhopal. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Singh, Dean (Planning and Development) is the head of “Institute Work Department (IWD)” and Ar. Ajay Kumar Vinodia is Associate Dean (Planning and Development). Presently, seven employees are deputed in IWD.

Major development activities of SPA Bhopal
1. Land allotment for proposed campus :
The state government of MP has allotted 30.21Ha land at Bhopal bypass road, village Bhauri, Bhopal. The land has been acquired and secured by constructing a boundary wall.

2. Master plan of SPA Bhopal:
Master Plan for the proposed campus of SPA Bhopal has been prepared by our Institute Works Department (IWD) and also got approved by TCPO Bhopal. The campus has been planned with integrated approach to create conducive educational environment with nearly 100% on-campus residential facilities for students, faculty and administrative staff. This will also have all major campus facilities and amenities with state of the art vision.

3. Development of internal road network :
The site allotted for proposed campus of SPA Bhopal had great challenge of 2-3 m high filled-up soil over its entire footprint. Accessibility within the site was considered as first challenge to begin with and we initiated construction of internal road network through our Institute Works Department. Today we have constructed almost all internal road networks with WBM finish including culverts and retaining walls etc. This development has provided vehicular accessibilities to every corner of the site.

4. Development of Boys hostel :
The Boys Hostel for the proposed campus of SPA Bhopal has been designed by the Institute Architect, IWD, SPA Bhopal. Conceptually, rooms are arranged around an open court. The double loaded corridors have been planned without compromising light, ventilation and visual connectivity. This 162 room hostel will accommodate 320 students with twin share basis. The hostel rooms are planned around large open courtyard with balcony attached to each room. This also has dining facilities and common areas for indoor games, laundry facilities, leisure activities, parking sheds, etc. Lift and ramps are introduced to achieve barrier free design. We have started execution of this building through National Building Construction Company (NBCC) New Delhi. The project is costing around 14 crores and will be completed within 15 months.

5. Development of Girls Hostel :
The Girls Hostel for the proposed campus of SPA Bhopal has been designed by the Institute Architect, IWD, SPA Bhopal. Conceptually rooms are arranged around open court. The double loaded corridors have been planned without compromising light, ventilation and visual connectivity. This 136 Room hostel will accommodate 272 students with twin share basis. The hostel rooms are planned around large open courtyard with balcony attached to each room. This also has dining facilities and common areas for indoor games, laundry facilities, leisure activities, parking sheds, etc. Separate rooms for visitors, care takers, warden, resident doctor, sick room etc. also provided within the building. Lift and ramps are introduced to achieve barrier free design. The execution of this building will be started soon.

6. Site office and Group-B Staff residences :
The Institute Works Department of SPA Bhopal has also constructed small site office building to monitor day to day development activities at the proposed campus. This building was inaugurated by Adam Hardy and now IWD is operating form this building. The building is designed as staff housing for Group-B residences and upper floors of this building are under construction.

7. Main Academic Complex at Bhauri Campus:
The Institute Works Department of SPA Bhopal conducted a National Design Competition for selection of consultant for design of its main Academic Complex Building. Many leading architectural firms participated in this two stage design competition in which Chelsea West Architect, New Delhi was selected for design of our main Academic Complex. This 24000 SQM building will accommodate all academic programmes at UG, PG and PhD level. The execution of this building will be started soon by CPWD.
